Located Downtown, everyone knows Prince Albert’s Diner. With the inside done up to look like a retro diner and offering delicious things like gourmet hot dogs, burgers, shakes, and all the classics. They offer four different varieties of perogies: plain, veggie (grilled onions and mushrooms with cheese), loaded (grilled onions, bacon, and cheese), and extra loaded (grilled onions, bacon, cheese, and housemade Texas chilli). These deep-fried perogies come with sour cream and are served with a side. Pair that with one of their classic milkshakes… how delish does that sound?

Alicia’s Fine Foods is a local grocer that stocks European essentials as well as hand-made delicacies every day. It’s located in the Hamilton Road neighbourhood.

These perogies are made daily in-store from the freshest ingredients. You can simply take them home and reheat them for your family and enjoy fresh, handmade perogies. They also have their handmade perogies in the freezer aisle if you’re looking to stock up on grocery essentials.

Their flavours range from sweet to savoury. You’ll see classics like cheddar & potato, cottage cheese & potato, and traditional meat. They also have more European-styled flavours like sauerkraut & mushroom, sauerkraut & meat, cabbage & onion, and smoked cheddar. For sweet perogies, there are sweet cheese, blueberry, blueberry & sweet cheese, as well as strawberry & sweet cheese.

JBogal Foods sells incredibly delicious homemade perogies at the Western Fair Market, which is located in Old East Village. Their perogies are made with local and fresh ingredients that are sustainably sourced. Because they work with foraged and local ingredients, the flavours offered change and vary based on what’s available. You can find totally unique ingredients such as ramps perogies. Ramps are like a cross between garlic and onion and are a labour of love to prepare. You can also find incredible sauces for their ingredients such as vegan queso.

Helen’s Restaurant is a small, mom and pop shop located on the edge of the Longwoods neighbourhood. Anyone who’s been downtown and enjoyed a meal at The Early Bird knows that grabbing a bite to eat there means generous portions, inventive menu items, and a flavour punch to the mouth. Their perogies are no exception to all of that. Their Baba Style comes with house-smoked bacon, fried onions and sour cream. Their Mushroom Perogies have mixed mushroom and onion sautee and is served with sour cream. Their Perogie Poutine has fries, perogies, cheese curds, shredded mozzarella, and duck gravy.

For perogies, London Ale House has two delicious options. The first option is the appetizer which includes fried cheddar perogies, topped with cheese, bacon and green onion. It’s served with sour cream. Their second option is the Perogie Bowl. The Bowl has their cheddar perogies, sauteed onions, bacon, and sweet peppers all tossed together in a creamy alfredo sauce. It’s served with garlic toast to mop up every last bit of sauce. Delish!

KLEIBER'S DELI
